The point of the author posting this article is to warn kids that are going to ask admission officers for help because they don't know very much. The author pointed out that they might not know all the questions that you have to ask. So he recommended that you do some research and find a website called college board. This author has gone through the struggle of asking an admissions officer for help and they couldn't answer the question.
The next article was about colleges trying to hook you in with their amazing deals that they can give you. But sometimes the little scholarships they give out are not going to do much. The author pointed out that a rep might say that you can get a 5,000 dollar scholarship, but that wont make much of an impact if the college costs 50,000. The reps are just trying to lure you in. The author used the National Association of College and University Business Officers as his source.
Both these articles are saying that what you hear from a college rep or a admissions adviser might not be the best source for you when you are going to pick a college. Both the authors pull you in with different statistics and reasoning. The first author used his statistics right away while the second used his towards the end to strengthen his writing.
